Money

Is that all it boils down to in the end?
Pink Floyd sung about “Money” – great tune – and it seems their drummer, Nick Mason, is about to come into a lot (more) of it through auctioning off his “pop art” McLaren F1 GTR for a cool US$35m (or £25m in the King’s money). Money feels like the only thing people are caring about these days and to an extent I understand. However, I’m not even sure if you go get a good job with more pay, you’re okay. Nevertheless, before we grab that cash with both hands and make a stash, I must stop making references to the song.
For the love of money
Is the root of all evil
Tell me, what good is a book
In an illiterate world?
Millionaires, Billionaires, Trillionaires
A proxy for success, no?
Sometimes the stench of egos
We need something to musk their smell
You can only drive one car at a time
Live in one house
And travel to one destination
The sickness of fame grants immunity to such thoughts
Fight to get it
Don’t want to share it
Jack or be jacked
Hands off my stack
Distribute wealth
Just not mine
Share it fairly
Slice of pie, not mine, but thine
Wealthy people stay wealthy
Because they don’t give it away
Most generosity is committed
By normal people, every day
Money no guarantee of morality
Wealth no guarantee of taste
It’s assault and battery
With a stack of rolled up fifties
You can’t eat money
You can’t drink it either
It won’t protect you from the cold nor the searing heat
It won’t comfort you when your partner cheats
Money only has value
When the environment is stable
Convincing the people against their interests
The oldest of fables
What happens when it is the primary goal?
Degeneracy and deadly sins
When it is not?
It’s fun, it’s a gas!
It gives you an excuse to pursue certain things,
to live a certain way,
to treat people in a particular manner,
it magnifies who you truly are
From canned food to caviar
What are you prepared to accept?
Your type of dinner changes
When your level of dinar changes
Purpose in this life and in the next
To take care of yourself and your family
To the best of your ability
With whatever resources you have
Some of us have more, some have less
What to do about that?
If it’s all we ever care about
It will be a bitter end
