To be or not to be successful, that is the question…with many answers.
A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about the overnight success taking 10 years to make as I celebrated my 200th QWAN. It was during this that I recalled a previous conversation I had with a reader about the never-ending pursuit of success, which I thought might be interesting to explore further.
The endless pursuit of success
Is it all hamster wheels
And side hustles upon side hustles?
Flogging you until your skin peels
Is there an end to the bustle?
What is “Endless”?
The constant striving for a greater result
Perpetual improvements in mind
The next thing or perfection “cult”
Fighting off any sort of decline
What is “Pursuit”?
The thrill of the chase
Loving the journey, the grind
Trust the process with haste
Ruthless, focus, hunger are your kind
What is “Success”?
The winning or how you play?
Competition, achievement, status
Reverence, wealth and accolades
Experiences, relationships of those who meet us
Ayrton Senna, “designed to win”
The most driven, perhaps extremely
On par with MJ’s will to win
So much so he took that personally
The dedication and application to the craft
The Kobe’s and the Cristiano’s
A model to base off of, a draft
Mind, body and soul, beautiful like Positano
For the modern artist, the online creator
Winning the internet, going viral, the aim
Feeding the social media machine, the beast, our maker
Posting and hoping, I pray not in vain
The capitalist treadmill, to some
The impossible hamster wheel to get off
The rich in a prison of constant wealth generation
Productivity and efficiency pity, I scoff!
The endless pursuit of success
Why do people do it?
What separates those at the top from the rest?
Why do people stop getting after it?
Why do people fail the test?
