The long and the short of it – Part II

I sentence you...to a sentence!

Nearly three months ago I wrote an article highlighting the time-sensitive and time-poor nature of modernity with the idea that in a world of “who has time?”, a sentence can have more impact than a whole article. I’d recommend you reading it – please click here to do so. As for this week, I thought I’d do a follow up.

The general idea for the following sentences is to stimulate your thinking, to become more interesting the longer you think about them which can lead to exploration of greater themes or deeper topics, and perhaps most importantly, reveal things about you.

/ Being liked or being right? Both, taken to their extremes, lead to empty and lonely lives.

/ Hypocrisy is so rife that people don’t even notice it.

/ I’m overly sensitive, but more like a “canary in the coal mine” than your average Twitter user.

/ Noble causes make for the greatest excuses. Mental health comes second.

/ The ego always feels the most hurt when called out.

/ The call to adventure is using a different phone network.

/ Most things aren’t worth your time.

/ For some things you need the right conditions. For most things you do not.

/ Not knowing what you want means you do not know yourself.

/ Modern existence largely bores me – I’ve never seen so many people interested in utter inane nonsense.

/ Are you struggling to start anything? Maybe you’re trying to distract yourself from what needs to be attended to.

/ One of the hardest things to do is to tell the truth. Another is to love people.

/ Has anyone stopped to think why we are so fearful?

/ There’s this weird paradox of feeling like I’m trying too hard AND not enough simultaneously.

/ Sometimes I feel like I don’t know what is right or wrong anymore.

/ I feel like the world is on my shoulders, but I’ve put it there because I know I’m capable.

/ Just how much future planning robs you of your ability to be present?

/ How much fun can you have in a self-imposed prison?

/ I’m so concerned with not wasting my time that I’m wasting my time.

/ I wish people were more like me, but also, I don’t.
