Interdependence

A poem by Martyn Foster.

Interdependence

Like the full moon and a reflecting surface of a still lake

Like the wind and the windmill

The sun to the sunrise or sunset

The water to the river

The earth to the mountain

The soil to the vegetation

Interdependence

The inseparable binding of two things

Together, for all eternity

Relying upon each other

For strength and support

For love and care

Woven together with the silk and thread of the cosmos

Interdependence

Of parent and child

Of lover and loved

Of healer and healed

Of skies and stars

Of people and community

Of heart and compassion

The beginning comes full circle at the end

The cries of birth, the tears of grief

One cannot live without,

Like a body without a mind,

A spirit without a soul

A moment without an experience

Interdependence.

A poem by Martyn Foster.
